How does using my HSA/FSA save me money?

~30%

Average savings for qualified customers paying with pre-tax HSA/FSA dollars instead of post-tax income.

  • Pre-tax dollars, full purchasing power
  • No change to how you shop at Kihealth
  • Documentation handled at checkout

HSA and FSA accounts were created so individuals could use pre-tax money to pay for expenses used to treat, mitigate, or prevent a diagnosed medical condition.

Because HSA/FSAs use pre-tax money, you get more purchasing power for your dollars. Rather than pay taxes on income and then spend it on health items, qualified customers can use pre-tax funds to invest in earlier answers about their health.

Benefit accounts

What are HSA and FSA funds?

Health Savings Account

A Health Savings Account is a tax-advantaged account that can be used for qualified medical expenses. Eligible HSA balances generally carry forward from year to year, but customers remain responsible for determining whether an expense qualifies.

Health Flexible Spending Arrangement

A Health Flexible Spending Arrangement is an employer-sponsored benefit that allows eligible healthcare expenses to be paid with pre-tax funds. Deadlines, carryover provisions, grace periods, and documentation requirements vary by plan.

Your employer, benefits administrator, or account custodian can confirm the rules that apply to your specific account.

Reimbursement

Be prepared with the right documentation.

Your plan administrator may request documentation showing what you purchased, the amount paid, the date of service, and the medical purpose of the expense. Keep your itemized receipt and any additional materials provided with your order.

Documentation checklist

  • Itemized purchase receipt
  • Product or service description
  • Date and amount paid
  • Order or confirmation number
  • Letter of Medical Necessity, when required by the plan
  • Any additional form requested by the administrator

A declined HSA/FSA card does not necessarily mean that an expense is ineligible. Customers should contact their plan administrator to confirm the reason and ask whether reimbursement is available.

Your itemized order confirmation is emailed after each purchase. If you need another copy, contact Kihealth support with your order number.
